About Laughing Through the Chaos

Welcome to my blog! If you're new here and aren't quite sure where to start, click the link below for my very first post.

Laughing Through the Chaos began back in November of 2008. I decided to start the blog mainly as a way to get my thoughts out there. I've always loved writing, but as a new (and very overwhelmed) mother, it was pretty difficult for me to sit down with a pen and paper, and I was really bummed that I hadn't been writing about everything I was going through.

But, I type like the wind, so I decided a blog was the way to go. Part of me hoped that eventually people would read what I had to say, and that maybe - just maybe, the things that I said would resonate with some women out there. However, in the beginning, that was really pretty far back in my mind. I was just happy to be writing again (one of several hobbies that took a back burner as I struggled in my new role as a mom).

As soon as I became a mother, I realized there were some harsh realities I'd never been warned about, so I felt compelled to write about these truths in hopes that either mothers-to-be would read what I wrote and at least have somewhat of a warning, or that other moms would say they agreed with me, that they had been there, and that I wasn't too crazy.

Initially, I mostly wrote for myself. Just simply to vent, to process what I was going through, and to create some sort of a record of what I'd experienced so I could look back on it someday. Never did I imagine that so many people would actually care what I had to say, and that they would comment and share their own stories with me.

Now I blog for me, and for you, my readers. I still talk about my struggles, my joys, and my random thoughts. But, somewhere along the way, I realized that it was important to talk about things other than being a mom, because I do other stuff, too! You'll find the occasional product review or giveaway, but only in small doses. I'm pretty picky when it comes to reviews and giveaways because I only want to focus on things that I love, and that I think you might love, too.

So, thanks for stopping by my little corner of Blog Land. I would love to hear from you. Click on the Contact Me link to send me an email, or please feel free to comment on the posts.

Writing on my blog about being a mother and a writer is one of the ways I stay sane. I agree there were many unexpected realities with becoming a mother, and writing about them helps. Reading other blogs like yours also helps!
